Today was a beautiful fall day so my friend Jill and I took Averelle to a pumpkin patch out in Chantilly Virginia - Ticonderoga Farms.
Jill and I were completely amazed when we pulled in and found that we practically had the place to ourselves. If you have ever been to the mid-Atlantic region, you know that there are always too many people everywhere you go. It was like a miracle!!
They had a petting farm with chickens, peacocks and goats. We didn't pet the chickens or peacocks!
But, we made friendly with a goat who tried to eat Elle's sleeve!
We ended up in the pumpkin patch where they 'plant' new pumpkins every night. They also had a pick your own area but we didn't realize that until we were ready to leave.
Elle is just starting to sit up on her own (with a little assistance from a pumpkin behind her!). She was having a lot of fun playing in the dirt :)
Just like the front gate, we had the place to ourselves!
We all got a bit dirty, but it was totally worth it!
Averelle helped Jill pick out the perfect pumpkin to take home.
I think she would have stayed there all day if we had let her!
Pretty as a flower :)
It was a perfect day to take a drive in the country and see the leaves changing. Much better than last weekend when we were in LaJolla California for work. It was cold and drizzly the whole weekend. And, on top of the nasty weather, I only got to see Clay about 10 minutes...Elle got to see him for a few hours. Hopefully next time we are in the same county the Navy will be a bit nicer about Clay's schedule!
